The Problem
Reading a character and writing it are different skills. Beginners meet あ or 山 on a flashcard, recognise it, and still cannot produce it — because nothing showed them where the pen starts, which direction each stroke runs, or how many strokes there are. Handwriting worksheets fix that, but they are printed, silent, and a teacher only sees the result days later, if at all.
The Quizzz Solution
Stroke practice runs in the browser. Pick a language and a character set, watch the animation, then write it yourself: each stroke is matched against the correct one as the student draws, wrong strokes are rejected on the spot, and a hint appears only after two failed attempts so the student thinks first. What the Practice Does
Animated stroke order
The character draws itself in the correct order and direction, at a readable speed. Replay as often as needed.
One stroke at a time
Step mode animates a single stroke and waits. Beginners copy that stroke on paper or on screen before the next one appears.
Trace and get scored
The student draws over the outline. Each stroke is accepted only if it follows the right path in the right order, and the run ends with a mistake count.
Kana and hanzi
All 177 hiragana and katakana, plus around 9,500 Chinese characters — practise any character by typing it in.
Correct stroke counts
Looped kana (あ, の, ぬ …) are taught as the single stroke they actually are, so the count the student sees matches the textbook.
