Instant feedback and a score that counts don't mix

When a quiz shows right and wrong in the browser, the answers have to be in the page too. That is fine for practice. For an exam, a student can read the key, or change an answer after seeing the result.

Check on the server, lock the first answer

In Live class exams and Homework, the correct answers, explanations and hints stay on the Quizzz server until the student confirms or submits. In Interactive and Guided modes, each confirm is a server request that returns only that one question's answer and locks it. Public practice links are not graded, so students can still explore freely.

What a graded exam does

The answer key stays off the page

Correct answers, explanations and hints are not sent to the browser before a student confirms or submits. Matching and ordering questions are shown in a scrambled order from a server-side secret, so the layout gives nothing away.

The first confirmed answer counts

In Interactive mode, tapping an option reveals the answer and locks it; in Guided mode, pressing Check does. The score uses the locked answer, even on a retake. Classic has no per-question confirm: it is scored once on submit, and a retake can change answers. New class exams default to retakes off.

One seat per name, with live control

A name already in use on another device is blocked. You see a Join attempt cue in the class panel, and press Release seat when it really is the same student on a new device.

No student accounts

Students join a Live class with a QR code and a name, or open their own Homework link. There is nothing to register and no password to reset.

How to run a graded exam

1

Choose Live class or Homework

These two link types are graded automatically. There is no extra switch to turn on.

2

Pick how students answer

Interactive: tap to confirm. Guided: press Check; when the question has a hint, a wrong first answer shows only the hint. Classic: one submit at the end, with no per-question confirm.

3

Run it and watch the class panel

See who has joined, spot Join attempts, and release a seat if a student switches devices. Locked answers are kept.

When graded exams help

In-class tests

Students scan a QR code, wait in the lobby, and start when you press go. The answer key is withheld until students confirm or submit, and confirmed answers can't be rewritten in Interactive and Guided modes.

Homework with personal links

Send each student their own link. In Interactive and Guided modes, the first answer they confirm is the one that counts, even if they come back to retake it.

Exams that continue on a new device

A phone dies mid-exam? Release the seat once the student is ready, and they rejoin with the same name, keeping the answers they already confirmed.

Self-Study Learners

Studying for JLPT, TOCFL, or any language exam on your own? Pick a topic, let AI generate practice questions, and drill at your own pace. Track your weak areas over time — no teacher required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can students still cheat on a graded exam?+
Quizzz protects the answer key and the first answer. It does not lock down the student's device, detect screen sharing or watch the room, and it cannot confirm that a name belongs to the person typing it. Use Homework links, which are personal to each student, when identity matters.
Do students need an account?+
No. Students join a Live class with a QR code and a name, or open the personal link you send for Homework.
Are public practice links graded?+
No. Public practice isn't graded and locks nothing. In Interactive and Guided it shows right and wrong immediately and answers can be changed; in Classic the answer key is still withheld. Graded behavior applies to Live class and Homework links.
What if a student switches devices?+
Their name is blocked on the new device, and you see a Join attempt cue in the class panel. If it is the same student, press Release seat. The old device can no longer answer or submit, and locked answers are kept. Release the seat only once the real student is ready to rejoin, because the first person to type that name afterwards gets the seat.
Does it work when the exam is embedded on another site?+
For a Live class exam, some browsers block the sign-in cookie inside an embedded view, so Check can fail. Students then see an Open quiz directly link. Share the direct link where you can.
I'm a student — can I use this for self-study?+
Yes. Sign up for a free student account, pick any topic or paste your own study material, and AI will generate practice questions instantly. You can track which areas you keep getting wrong and focus your review there.
