One paper, one answer to copy

When every student holds the same paper, a glance at a neighbor's desk is enough. Reordering questions by hand for a second version takes an evening, and then you need a second answer key and a way to grade both.

Versions from the paper you already made

Turn on versions for an exam paper and choose two to four. Quizzz rearranges the questions and the answer choices for each version when it prints, and leaves your quiz and the online exam unchanged.

What each version keeps and changes

Question order and choice order, separately

Shuffle the question order, the answer-choice order, or both. Version A keeps the order you wrote.

Passages stay together

Questions move only inside their section. A reading passage moves with its questions, and listening sections or questions that refer to a number keep their order.

A version mark on every page

Each page prints its version letter, so a loose page still shows which version it belongs to.

One key per version, plus a cross-reference

Each teacher key holds that version's answers, followed by a table that maps every version's question back to version A.

How to print versions

1

Make the exam paper

Lay out a quiz as an exam paper in a school test, mock exam or JLPT-style format.

2

Choose the versions

Pick two to four versions and whether to shuffle questions, answer choices or both. Preview each version before printing.

3

Download and print

Download one ZIP with the student paper, teacher key and answer sheet for every version.

One set of questions, four versions: A to D

Sample class: Brightway Learning Center, Grade 8 English, Class B. Twelve students, one 25-question English test. The class and students are fictional.

Where versions help

Midterms in a full classroom

Hand out A and B in alternating rows so students sitting side by side never hold the same paper.

Make-up tests

Give a student who missed the test a version the class has not seen, from the same questions.

Several classes on one day

Give each class its own version so answers passed along in the hallway don't match.

Cram schools with shared rooms

Run the same unit test for two groups in one room, with each group on its own version.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does making versions change my quiz?+
No. Versions are arranged when the paper prints. The stored quiz, the paper's questions and any online exam keep their order.
Do all versions use the same answer sheet?+
Yes. The answer sheet has the same layout for every version, and each version's key lists that version's answers.
What stays in place?+
Reading passages move with their questions, listening sections keep their order, and so do questions whose text names another question's number. "All of the above" and "none of the above" stay last.
Can two versions come out the same?+
Quizzz checks before printing and blocks versions that would print identically, for example when a section has only one question and choice shuffling is off.
